Defamation Cases on the Rise!

It appears that in the last couple of years, searches related to defamation have been sharply rising. Searches for “internet defamation”, “defamation attorney”, “facebook defamation”, “instagram defamation”, and more have all been increasing substantially.

There is some mystery as to why these searches have increased, as I have explored on some of my other websites. But, I think the explanation boils down to just a few reasons:

Why are people interested in defamation?

• There have been a lot of high-profile defamation lawsuits in the news in recent years. This raises interest in the topic.
• The high-profile defamation lawsuits have had some very large damage awards.
• There seems to be a trend of people believing they can say anything, resulting in false and damaging statements.

I have worked on a number of cases in my role as a defamation expert witness, and I have definitely seen an uptick in the number of inquiries involving my services. This appears to be due to an increasing number of people who are suing others for publishing defamatory statements about them online.

I have worked on a number of dramatic defamation suits, including a man suing his defamers for false and misleading statements published when he was a young teen (the statements went viral and were seen by millions of people). In another case, I was hired by a woman who sued Google for not removing content they were legally required to. In yet another of my cases, a YouTube influencer defamed a man in Texas.
